jtown: Rarely worth it. Read the policy thoroughly. Last time I looked into it, most policies didn't break even until the third visit of the year. Even in the event that you hit a big-ticket item (surgery), you'll still be paying a lot of money out-of-pocket. Enough to question whether it's worth spending a couple grand to give fluffy another 6 months.

It's almost as bad as the crappy vision coverage my old company had for employees. It was a total scam. $10/month was paid for each employee. Maximum annual benefit was $110 per employee. Well, you could actually get $170 in benefits in a single year but $120 of that was for frames and lenses and you could only receive that benefit every two years. So $170 in year one, $50 in year two. $170 in year three, $50 in year four.
j d ess: what jtown said.

read the pre-existing condition rules carefully. as i remember it, our guy's bladder stone surgery (the impetus for getting it) meant any bladder problems he had was not going to be covered.
Never.
FoolProof: Flush 'em and buy a new one.
