My paper works has lately been based around an exploration of the relationship between two and three dimensionality. I find this materialization of a flat piece of paper into a 3D form almost as a magic process - or maybe one could call it obvious magic, because the process is obvious and the figures still stick to their origin, without the possibility of escaping. In that sense there is as well an aspect of something tragic in most of the cuts. Some of the small paper cuts relates to a universe of fairy tales and romanticism, as for instance "Impenetrable Castle" inspired by Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tale "The Steadfast Tin Soldier", in which a tin soldier falls in love with a paper ballerina, living in a paper castle. Other paper cuts are small dramas in which small figures are lost within and threatened by the huge powerful nature. Others again are turning the inside out, or letting the front and the back of the paper meet - dealing with impossibility, illusions, and reflections.

this is so neat!
"We're not going to have the America that we want until we elect leaders who are gonna tell the truth; not most days but every day; leaders who don’t forget what they don’t want to remember. And for eight straight years George Bush hasn’t displayed the slightest interest in anything we care about. And now that he's after a job that he can’t get appointed to, he's like Columbus discovering America. He’s found child care. He’s found education.

Poor George. He can’t help it. He was born with a silver foot in his mouth."

Rest in peace, Ann.
It was on this date, October 13, 1307 — and presumably on a Friday — that King Philip IV ("the Fair") of France arrested all of the Templar Knights.

The leaders were tortured into confessing impiety and sodomy in their houses and, although the method is not conducive to extracting truth, it is clear that the practices were rampant. The methods were standard: "The feet of the accused were oiled and fired, splinters were driven under their toe- and finger-nails, weights were tied to their genital organs, and so on," says McCabe. "Some underwent torture six or seven times. A large number, including the Grand Master [Jacques DeMolay] and three other leading Masters, confessed and were burned alive."

Tyler Radkey and other second-graders at Emma E. Booker Elementary School didn't know what to think when an aide leaned in and whispered something to President Bush on the morning of Sept. 11, 2001.

"His face just started to turn red," said Tyler, now 13 and in seventh grade. "I thought, personally, he had to go to the bathroom."

Zuma Dogg, the hyperactive host of THE ZUMA DOGG SHOW can be seen regularly prowling the beaches of Venice & Malibu. Armed with a hand-held camcorder, Zuma Dogg documents his strange encounters.

He says he is a public advocate of the community who looks into injustices that he feels need to be addressed. These include challenging the library’s no talking rule by performing a free concert inside.

Zuma is the host, the director and the camera man of this one man public access production.

THE ZUMA DOGG SHOW can be seen at various times on public access stations throughout Los Angeles.

ZD is currently embroiled in a political battle with the Los Angeles City Council. Clips of his boisterous display at City Hall can be found on the site.

How To Wear A Masonic Ring
Posted by GFS in gods 12 years ago
There has always been much discussion at lodge, and on the various internet groups about how to wear your Masonic Ring. Arguments have gone on for days!

One common idea is to wear it with the square and compass opening up into yourself, or rather, pointing at yourself, so it appears upside down to the rest of the world. This is how my good friend Thomas Shiffer, Senior Deacon of Santa Monica - Palisades Lodge, wears his Platinum Brotherhood Ring. He wears his ring facing inward to remind him of the journey he is on, reminding him in all his dealings, or the tenets of Masonry.

The world's first all electronic Masonic magazine.
The Masonic Service Association of North America (MSANA) was formed in 1919 to provide services to its member Grand Lodges that they would find difficult to provide for themselves. Thus the national voice that the MSA has is dedicated to Service to the Masonic community.

I became a Fellowcraft Mason tonight. Almost there!
Bob Ross - The Video Game!
Posted by GFS in it's the arts 12 years ago
Bob Ross Inc. has announced in March 2006 that they have filed a letter of intent to license to Joseph Hatcher's AGFRAG Entertainment Group to develop exclusively worldwide video/computer games based on Bob Ross' creative, unique and easy to learn painting techniques and TV show properties.

The Bob Ross video game, currently untitled, is planned to be developed for PC, the Nintendo DS handheld & on Nintendo's next-gen system coming later this year, code named Revolution. Release date was not announced. AGFRAG is currently seeking a publisher.

[...]

The Bob Ross game will utilize the unique inputs that the Nintendo DS and Nintendo Revolution have that can truly immerse the players while they learn to paint like Bob Ross and can play the addictive and fun games that we have planned for the title. I believe that Bob Ross Inc's and AGFRAG Entertainment Group's similar beliefs in independence, creativity, and teaching others will benefit how the game is developed and how the players of all ages will be able to enjoy this game.

I want the community to share with us their favorite Bob Ross shows, painting techniques, and what they’d like to see in the NDS and Revolution games. We want to keep the brush going."
