Neu! is cool 35 years after revolutionizing rock entertainment

Michael Rother says he's not enough of a sociologist to explain the explosion of creativity in German underground music during the early 70s, when a host of innovative bands emerged: Kraftwerk, Faust, Amon Duul, Cluster, Can, and Neu!.

"I’m just a musician, but this push to create a new personal identity was everywhere in Germany – in art, cinema, music," Rother says. "Change was the virus of the times, and it was set loose by the huge disaster of World War II."

Now, you can keep on rolling with the Stones… but only if you get doubles. The legendary rock band have announced their version of the classic board game Monopoly. In Rolling Stones Monopoly, the famous streets and avenues of the original edition are replaced with Stones releases. Baltic Avenue becomes Sticky Fingers and Park Place turns into A Bigger Bang.

Critic Scott Foundas characterized "The Social Network" as a "portrait of a self-made outsider marking his territory in the WASP jungle" akin to F. Scott Fitzgerald's classic "The Great Gatsby," and speculated that it may come to be considered a microcosm of the Digital Age in the same way that "Gatsby" encapsulates the Jazz Age.

How to Start Making Electronic Music entertainment
Link #151447 submitted by dorian on Aug 17, 2010 08:12am.   (+170XP)
http://www.memeshift.com/2008/12/31/how-to-start-making-electronic-...
I love electronic music. I love making it, listening to it, promoting it and of course, helping other people create it. While I didn’t write these myself, I thought I’d share some helpful PDF manuals and guides I’ve compiled to get you started.

In writing this, I’m also assuming that readers have some kind of multi-track recording program (like Protools, Logic or Cubase ) or a nice sequencing program (like Reason or Fruity Loops). Ableton is my program of choice as it handles a bit of both recording and sequencing. Which ever platform you choose, a nice music making program will help you try out some of the things covered in the PDFs below.

Hopefully these guides will inspire some of the same passion I have for electronic music in you:)

Johnny Carson is getting an upgrade for the YouTube era.

Carson Entertainment Group, which owns the archive of the late-night host's 30 years on "The Tonight Show," is set to announce Wednesday that it has digitized all 3,300 hours of existing footage from the program and created a searchable online database for producers and researchers.

The library will initially be available just for professional clip-licensing purposes, but the company also plans to release 50 full-format shows on DVD and post a rotating series of historic clips for public viewing on johnny carson .com

Songs About Butts: No Ifs or Ands About It entertainment

http://magazine.jamsbio.com/2008/10/23/songs-about-butts
Sir Mix-a-Lot’s “Baby Got Back was intentionally left off this list. Too cliche. And for that matter, so was “Shake Your Booty” by K.C. & the Sunshine Band.

Booty, Ass, Butt, Derriere, Arse, Behind, Buns, Buttocks, Hind End, Keister, Nates, Posterior, Prat, Fanny, Rear End, Tooshie, Seat, Fundament, Backside, Bottom, Hindquarters, Tush, Rump, Stern, Tail Rear, Bum, Can, Heine. Let me count the ways! There are lots of words for butts, but there are even more songs about ass, representing all genres and spanning decades. Can’t fit all that booty in these editorial jeans so I’ve whittled down the list to 25 favorites, organized by genre. Shake it!

This a randomly generated comic. Or at least the photos are. Some might say that it's part of the 'found art' or 'found sound' movement, which seeks not to create art, but to simply find and present normal objects as art. Some might say that this comic is part of the "constrained comics" movement, that seeks to create comics with some constraint in a similar way to how poetry constrains itself with Haikus, Sonnets, etc. Other people might say that this comic is all about recontexualizing reality. Some might say that I just can't draw or come up with original ideas, but those people are jerks.

The “Interview with a Vampire” author, who wrote a book about her spirituality titled "Called Out of Darkness: A Spiritual Confession" in 2008, said Wednesday that she refuses to be “anti-gay,” “anti-feminist," “anti-science” and “anti-Democrat.”

It's a very brief press statement but she is clear and concise about her reasons.

For mixing Kraftwerk's synthetic beats and simple melodies with New York rap, 'Planet Rock' can be credited with creating an entirely new genre: hip-hop. This is how it happened...

In order for nature sounds to start playing choose a sound from drop-down box for one of the channels and drag the volume slider up. You can add more nature sounds to composition by choosing other sounds in other channels. It is also possible to add stereo effects by panning channels to the left or to the right.
